Our Story
Mike and his wife Sadie took over in November 2017. Having family in the village they always had a love for The Palk Arms, Mike previously ran The Railway in Newton Abbot with great success, so when The Palk became available, Mike & Sadie wanted to bring their passion and love to both The Palk Arms and our wonderful community.
We pride ourselves on being a proper Devon Pub! There is a locals bar, ( they don't bite! ) plus a family bar and restaurant with wonderful views out across the rolling Teign Valley. Both bars have beautiful toastie log burning stoves with plenty of space round them - if you want to reserve the tables closest to them give us a call!
The relaxed atmosphere of The Palk has made it a favourite with holiday makers, tourists, walkers, cyclists, horse riders and locals.
The pub is perfectly located for guests staying at Finlake Lodges and the many holiday cottages around Bovey Tracey, Chudleigh and the Teign Valley. We are only 2 miles from the reservoirs of Trenchford, Tottiford and Kennick – ideal for a picturesque walk or cycle to build up a thirst or to burn off a hearty roast dinner!
Nominated by our wonderful customers, The Palk has been included in CAMRA's "Good Beer Guide" for three years in a row! Keeping it local, we have beers and ciders from brewers such as Teignworthy, Dartmoor, Bays, Hunts and Sandford Orchards. With a great selection of wines and spirits too, you'll always find a drink for every occasion.
Food is very popular so please book online or phone in advance and avoid disappointment!
Children are welcome until 8.30 pm. We are dogs friendly but please keep them on leads at all times.
In the Kitchen
We are fortunate to have the wonderful Steve Taylor in our kitchen. A local coming from only just the other side of the A38, Steve is very much a Devon boy who loves to cook tasty, country pub food. He has a wide range of experience from hearty comfort food to sophisticated à la carte dining. Keep an eye out for the specials, he makes a lovely beef wellington!
